Transitioning to School
By: Max Boucher
It’s already October and Duxbury High School has been back in session for about a month now.
The mornings are getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the work load is getting heftier. Everybody is missing the summer more and more each day.
The summer is filled with relaxation, freedom, and lots of fun. It’s hard for people to be away from that kind of lifestyle for 9 months of the year especially when they have almost everyday filled with the stress from schoolwork, college applications, and important tests like the SAT and ACT. Senior Kevin D. said, “with schoolwork and college applications I have very minimal time to hang out with my friends.”
Its hard for some students to make the transition from summer to school. During the summer you can do whatever you want. The change in schedule can be hard to get used to. Kevin D. also said, “I miss waking up at any time I want.”
Many people are definitely missing some much needed sleep now that school has started.
Not only do people miss the freedom of sleeping in, they also miss all the fun things they did over the summer.
Sophomore Darnell R. said, “I really miss going to the beach and hanging out with my friends.”
Sometimes the transition back to school can be a little bit of a surprise but according to Darnell “It was easy because I have been doing this for all my life.”
