For the first time since 2009, the Duxbury High School football team lost a home game to Bridgewater-Raynham, on Saturday September 14th.

Duxbury residents consider home football games one of the most attended sporting events in town. Sophomore Abby J. said, “I will always go to the games… It’s always fun no matter how they do. The loss was upsetting but hopefully they will come back.”

Junior Eliza H. said, “I think it’s sad, but people in Duxbury get too used to winning, sometimes we need to lose.”  The student body continues to have high hopes for their success. DHS Junior Isabelle F. said that she thinks they will be able to come back from this and do well for the rest of the season.

Last season the team beat BR 20-7, so what happened this year? Senior and starting quarterback Sean M. said the scoring on offense needed some improvement, while Senior Mike T. added they needed to do a better job at finishing drives.

As seniors and Super Bowl champions in 2010 and 2011 they have become accustomed to winning. As for the rest of the season Sean M. said, “We will definitely do better because we have identified all of the things we did wrong going into the BR game.”
