After leaving San Diego behind for New York City in order to continue his career on the news, Ron Burgundy returns for the first time since Anchorman: The legend of Ron Burgundy, in the new film Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues. But, does the legend really continue?

After the release of Anchorman, starring Will Ferrell as Ron Burgundy, in 2004, Burgundy has been widely known as one of the greatest movie personalities of all time. On December 18, 2013, the much anticipated sequel to Anchorman was released in theaters.

A major factor for the original Anchorman’s success in the box office was the story as a whole. Not only were Ron Burgundy and the rest of the Channel 4 News Team hysterical, but the storyline was one to remember. The whole situation that the Channel 4 News Team was faced with when Veronica Corningstone was hired as a new female anchor was simply hilarious, and it was executed to perfection.

In Anchorman 2, there was not a memorable plot that could be belted out in one sentence. At times, it felt more like a series of scenes that were put together one after another, by someone that had their eyes closed. Regardless, these scenes were extremely entertaining, and anyone with a sense of humor will not fail to recognize that. In the first Anchorman, there were a great amount of quotable one-liners that are pure genius. One famous quote from the original Anchorman , spoken by Steve Carell’s character, Brick Tamland. He said, “I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.”

Senior Luke M. said, “The first was obviously a much better, well put together movie but [Anchorman 2] was funny. You don’t want to go to this movie expecting something groundbreaking, but you’ll laugh.”

While Anchorman 2 contains several quotes that will be loved for years to come, they weren’t integrated into the plot as well as these quotes were in the first Anchorman. Junior Katie W. said, “It didn’t really make sense but all of the characters in [Anchorman 2] were very, very funny.”

Nonetheless, Anchorman 2 will still go down as a classic comedy motion picture, due to the material in the movie, regardless of how it was delivered. One classic quote from Ron Burgundy in Anchorman 2 is when he said,“Who the hell is Julius Caesar? You know I don’t follow the NBA!” Another knee slapper from Channel 4 News Team’s weatherman, is when Brick Tamland said, “I can always guess how many jellybeans are in a jelly bean jar, even if I’m wrong.”

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues definitely had its moments and was a solid comedy, but if you’re rushing to the theaters hoping to see something better than the original Anchorman, save your money and go buy a gum ball.
