The Force is with students at DHS awaiting “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” With the premier set for December 18th, many DHS students are getting excited for the 7th installment in the classic sci-fi series. Prepared fans who pre-ordered tickets will get to see the movie on December 17th.
After months of anticipation and waiting, fans across the country are counting down the days until the premier. Junior Zach K. said, “I’ve seen all of the trailers so far… from both a nostalgic perspective as well as from the perspective of somebody that wants to see a movie that looks really, really good, I could not be more excited to see it.”
Many enthusiastic fans are excited for the new movie. “I saw the new trailers and I was instantly super excited for the movie,” said junior Tyler W. “I’ve been waiting a long time for these movies.” Junior Nick T. said “I’ve been a die hard fan since I was really little and with the new trailer showing more footage, I’m really excited.”
Many students who haven’t seen the original six movies or have only seen a few are getting excited about the movie as well. “I’ve only seen a couple of them out of order,” said sophomore Lyndsey R. “I’ve seen the new trailers and they look really exciting. I’ll definitely go see them.” Junior Emily M. said, “I watched the trailer and it looks like a really good movie and the special effects look good… not having prior knowledge I might not want to see it because it seems like a recap.” Junior Max K. said, “I’ve seen the trailers and even though I haven’t seen the other movies I am really excited for the Force Awakens.”
Other students are apprehensive about the new movie. “I’ve seen the new trailers but its seems to have lost the old Star Wars feel,” said junior Toby S., “With all the new special effects and shiny stuff it’s lost its classic appeal.” Sophomore Jason A. said, “I hope Disney does a good job but I have a feeling they’ll probably screw it up.”
