Humanitarian Project Raises Money for Local Food Pantries

By Hailey B.

The Humanitarian Project of DHS recently finished their Tom- the- Turkey fundraiser for local food pantries. Members of the club sold raffle tickets outside of Foodies and on their own time. People had the opportunity to win one of two $50 Bongi’s gift cards.

Sam S., sophomore, had not heard of the fundraiser.

The Humanitarian Project raised over two thousand dollars that will be divided among The Duxbury Lion’s Club, St. Vincent de Paul, Plymouth Coalition for the Homeless, Pembroke Food Pantry.  The two winners were Deb B. and Jeanne J. of Duxbury.

Looking to prepare the incoming officers for the fundraiser next year, Rachel K., senior and vice president of the club said, “It would be nice to see more students and teachers in the high school participating.” Treasurer Izzi M. agreed. She said, “I feel like all of our efforts need to be more hands-on and make more of an impact.”
