Pushing the Pie for a Good Cause

On Friday March 17, Push the Pie took place during 1st and 3rd lunch. Push the Pie is an event where teachers and students alike purchase votes to throw a pie into the face of the teacher or student of their choice. This year, the winners were Mr. Brown, Mr. Kelly, senior David C., and senior Quinn S..
“It was surprisingly fun,” said Mr. Kelly, “It was tasty, it was kind of soft and cool, and it was nice to help out charity.” The proceeds of Push the Pie go to the National Honors Society’s Puttin’ for Patients, which donates to The Jimmy Fund.
The person that voted the most for their teacher or student was the one that threw the pie. Throwing the pie at Mr. Brown was David G., Aidan C. threw the pie at Mr Kelly, Mrs. Hart threw the pie at David C., and Mr. Fisher threw the pie at Quinn S..
“I was very impressed by the students that volunteered for Puttin’ for Patients,” said Mrs. Radzik, “I even got an email from the organizer of the event telling me how impressed he was by the student volunteers.” According to Mrs. Radzik, an NHS advisor, Push the Pie and Puttin’ for Patients raised a total of $3,280 for the Jimmy Fund, an organization that helps fund pediatric cancer research.
However, teachers raised more money for the Push the Pie event, “Students only raised $25 while teachers raised nearly $75,” said Mrs. Radzik. Next year, NHS hopes to raise even more for the good cause.
