Last night, The Washington Capitals crushed the Boston Bruins 7-0 during the opening night of the NHL season.

In their first game of the season, the Boston Bruins played against the 2018 Stanley Cup Champions from last year, The Washington Capitals.

In the first 24 seconds, TJ Oshie, right forward, from the Capitals, received a pass from Rick Green and took a quick shot into the corner of the net. Soon after, the Capitals scored again, thanks to Bruins goalie, Tuukka Rask, making a mistake.

With under two minutes left in the period, Evgeny Kuznetsov, left forward, put the puck in the back of the net.

Nic Dowd, the Capitals, right forward, made a phenomenal turn around a defender and scored in second period, which now had the Capitals leading 4-0.

Later in the second period Kuznetsov got his second goal by stickhandling the puck all the way to the end of the rink, sneaking behind the keeper to get the shot in.

With 4 minutes left in the second  period, John Carlson, right defender, scored with a  slap shot from the far left side. The puck found the top left corner of the Bruins net, making the score 6-0.

Adding to the blowout, Lars Eller, left forward, created a breakaway and took a wrist shot that resulted in the final goal of the game.

The Boston Bruins were left scoreless and stunned as the Capitals proved why they are the defending champs of the Stanley Cup.
