Opinion: Why Running Isn’t As Bad As You Think
By Piper G.
When it comes to running, most people would rather do anything else. And when I say anything, I mean anything, including cleaning out the fish’s tank which hasn’t been touched in two and a half years, cleaning the entire house top to bottom or even doing homework. However, I uphold the unpopular opinion that running isn’t the worst thing ever. For me, running is pretty enjoyable. Here’s why.
Running is one of the best mood boosters ever. I’m serious. The endorphins released from running are amazing because they not only are an automatic mood booster, but also make you feel as if you can take on the world. At first, running is unenjoyable. Your lungs burn, legs feel like they are about to fall off, and your will to live may be slightly affected during the process of beginning to run. However, after keeping up with running for a week or so, you’ll realize it becomes easier. One day while you’re running you’ll realize you’re not out of breath anymore and that your legs aren’t feeling like bricks.
Another reason why running is great is that it boosts your self-esteem. You feel empowered because even though it was hard, you stuck with it and finished what you set out to do.
Even though it sounds counter-intuitive, running wakes you up and makes you feel energized. While this might sound like absolute lunacy, running first thing in the morning sets up for a great day.
For most people, running is considered to be a punishment but in my opinion, it actually is not bad at all, and personally, I love doing.
