On November 30th and December 1st, the Duxbury High School senior class plays were held in the PAC. These plays included Game of Tiaras, Crushed, and Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone.
Game of Tiaras is a parody of Game of Thrones and is centered around the Disney princesses Cinderella, Belle, and Ellie–the ice princess without a copyright claim. The princesses all fight for the throne which eventually leads to some non-graphic violence.
Crushed is about everything not to do on a date. It features two people who learn exactly what not to due through their own hallucinations and eventually meet and fall in love.
Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone is a parody of Harry Potter where Sally attends Frogbull Academy. The play features a plethora of parodied characters. Sally and her friends are trying to figure out the story behind the magic rock before its powers can be used to bring back lord murder death.
Senior Alyssa W. served as the director of Sally Cotter and the Censored Stone and found it to be a rewarding process.
“The best part about directing was seeing my peers open up and have fun with the process,” said Alyssa.
The plays were put on to benefit the Class of 2019 and the proceeds will go towards their class. A decent portion of the senior class participated in the plays.
“It was easily one of the most enjoyable high school experiences,” said senior Ben C., who was the male narrator in Crushed, “and a great way to set off senior year.”
